Overview of Broker Renewal
The Broker License Renewal deadline is April 30, 2024. You may take courses for the 2024 renewal cycle any time starting May 1, 2022.
Requirements
Real estate license renewal requirements are based on your original license date. You can look up your original license date with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) License Lookup.
CE Credits
Want to check which classes you have already taken? You can review your continuing education credits with IDFPR’s CE Lookup portal by entering your license number. Click [Show History] in the upper right corner to see older courses.
Total of 12 hours of continuing education (CE), including 1 hour of Sexual Harassment Prevention training.
All credits must be completed between May 1, 2022 and April 30, 2024.
- Must include a minimum 4 hours of Core CE credits and 8 hours of elective CE credit.
- Electives must include 1 hour of Sexual Harassment Prevention training.
- REALTORS® must include Code of Ethics (NAR, IR, or PAAR courses only) every three years. The upcoming deadline is 12.31.24. This can be counted towards electives.
Total of 45 hours of Broker Post-License education.
All credits must be completed on or before April 30, 2024.
- The 45-hour Broker Post-License curriculum will consist of three 15-hour courses, each course contains a final exam.
- Courses included are as follows: 15-hour Transactional Issues course, 15-Hour Applied Brokerage Principles course, and 15-hour Risk Management & Discipline course (1 hour of Sexual Harassment Prevention training is included).
- REALTORS® must include Code of Ethics (NAR, IR, or PAAR courses only) every three years. The upcoming deadline is 12.31.24.

Submitting your Renewal Application
After completing all of your required education credits, submit your license renewal application and $150 State of Illinois licensing fee to IDFPR on or before April 30, 2024. IDFPR’s License Renewal portal.

What if I Missed Renewal
If you have not completed your required education, paid the renewal fee, and submitted your renewal application to IDFPR on or before April 30, 2024, you may not practice real estate.

REALTORS®: Failure to complete Code of Ethics (NAR, IR, or PAAR courses only) training during any cycle will lead to suspension of membership for the January and February immediately following the cycle deadline, with termination of membership starting March 1 after the cycle deadline. Code of Ethics (NAR, IR, or PAAR courses only) is to be taken every three years. The upcoming deadline is December 31, 2024.
