Overview of Managing Broker Renewal

The current deadline for the Managing Broker License Renewal is April 30, 2021. All continuing education requirements must be met prior to submitting your license renewal application.

Requirements

Real estate license renewal requirements are based on your original license date. You can look up your original license date with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) License Lookup.

CE Credits

Want to check which classes you have already taken? You can review your continuing education credits with IDFPR’s CE Lookup portal by entering your license number. Click [Show History] in the upper right corner to see older courses.

LICENSE ISSUE DATE PRIOR TO 02.01.19

Total of 24 hours of continuing education (CE).

All credits must be completed between May 1, 2019 and April 30, 2021.

  • Must include the 12-HR Broker Management course.
  • Minimum 4 hours of Core CE credits and 8 hours of elective CE credit.
  • Must include 1 Sexual Harassment elective and 1 Code of Ethics elective (NAR, IR, or PAAR)
  • If the courses were completed prior to June 30, 2019, the total hours could include Core A & Core B courses.
LICENSE ISSUE DATE BETWEEN 02.01.19 AND 01.31.21

Total of 12 hours of continuing education (CE).

All credits must be completed between May 1, 2019 and April 30, 2021.

  • Minimum 4 hours of Core CE credits and 8 hours of elective CE credit.
  • Must include 1 Sexual Harassment elective and 1 Code of Ethics (NAR, IR, or PAAR).
LICENSE ISSUE DATE AFTER 02.01.21

You do not need to renew your license in 2021. Your license renewal deadline is April 30, 2023.

Submitting your Renewal Application

After completing all of your required education credits, submit your license renewal application and $200 State of Illinois licensing fee to IDFPR on or before April 30, 2021. IDFPR’s License Renewal portal.

What if I Missed Renewal

If you have not completed your required education, paid the renewal fee, and submitted your renewal application to IDFPR on or before April 30, 2021, you may not practice real estate.
